Hitting the Town in Perth, Australia

By -

While Perth might be best known for its beaches, there’s much more to Western Australia’s capital city than sun and sand. After a day relaxing on the beach, or enjoying the surf, it’s time to hit the town and take in some of Perth’s night-time highlights. From pubs and bars to an popular dance music clubbing scene, there’s plenty on offer for every taste. Perth has become known as Australia’s party town, so why not sample the nightlife when in town?

Wherever you go you’ll be sure to have a good time, but it’s important to ensure you’re prepared for your night out before hitting the town. Western Australia has some really strict ID checking rules, so make sure you’ve got your passport on you. Even those who are obviously over the legal drinking age are often carded. Make sure you save enough money for the cab when you finish drinking, as lockdowns are often enforced on late night clubbing venues. If you’re a smoker you’ll need to observe Australia’s ban on indoor smoking. Don’t let this put you off having a good time though: just make sure you come prepared.

Everything in One Place

If you’re wanting to party somewhere without fear of getting lost then there’s no better entertainment complex than Crown Perth. With restaurants, bars, nightclub, stadium, theatre, and even a hotel to fall into at the end of the night, this is Perth’s best all in one entertainment venue. The Groove Bar and Lounge here is one of the best venues for dancing in Perth and also has great live entertainment nights.

Drum and Bass

If there’s one form of music Perth is famous for it’s Drum and Bass. With regular gigs not just in the city centre, but also in Northbridge and elsewhere there’s gigs almost every night. The best way of being in the know about what gigs will be on when you’re in town is to pick up a copy of one of the local magazines which feature both listings and guides.

A Quick Drink in the Bar

If you’re not feeling like spending the night dancing away tonight, and just want a few quiet drinks with friends then hit one of Perth’s many pubs and bars. Bars typically open at 11am if you fancy drinking the afternoon away, but luckily for night owls they generally stay open until midnight too. Those in the city centre and Northbridge often stay open even later.

There’s plenty of option for every taste, but if you’re looking for something sophisticated then the Fusion Bar is highly recommended. It’s contemporary yet chic, and is a great place to sample a cocktail or share a bottle of champagne.

If you’re wanting something a bit more relaxed why not try one of the Perth’s beer cafes, where you can enjoy a light meal while sipping one of the excellent selections of craft beers. If beer isn’t your thing and you prefer wine, why not sample one of Perth’s wine bars. Each has its own distinct identity, from funky to stylish, hip to relaxed.
