I am such a watch gal, I always wear a watch and feel lost whenever I forget to put it on. I could not get through each day without my watch, not only is it my time-keeper, but also my most loved accessory.

While I love my watch, when it comes to choosing a new one, I often struggle finding the perfect match. You see, as women, our accessories are what make us look and feel unique, which is why they are so important. Many women just rush into buying a watch, but if you want it to work well with your style, you need to choose carefully.

To help you choose the perfect watch, I thought I would share my top watch shopping tips with you, below:

Set your budget first

Before you start pining over the newest designer watch, it’s best to set yourself a budget. Although designer watches are beautiful, you can get some gorgeous designs, much cheaper. So if your budget is small, there is no need to panic.

Ideally, to be able to get a watch that will last you, you will need to spend at least $50. If you are unable to spend a lot, perhaps you could wait until your birthday and ask your family to put money towards your new watch?

Consider the brand of watch you want

If, like me, there is a certain brand of watch that you love, then you may want to go with one of their watch designs. For instance, one of the most popular watch brands is Shinola – they have lots of lovely watch designs on offer.

Some people prefer to opt for designer watch brands, but most watch brands, designer or not, have lovely watches on offer. So, don’t be put off just because a watch isn’t designer, it really doesn’t matter.

Choose the material of your watch

The next step is to think about the type of material that you would like your watch and watch strap to be made from. When it comes to choosing the material of your watch and strap, there are so many options, from leather to gold.

The most popular materials used for watch faces tend to be gold – various colors, silver, platinum, and stainless steel. Watch straps come in the same materials, and also in black, white and brown leather. The type of material you choose will depend on various factors; your personal style, price range and what you like best.

Choose the style of your watch

When it comes to choosing the style of your watch, there are various factors to take into consideration.

The first thing to consider is the style of watch strap that you would like – bracelet strap or thick strap? If you prefer daintier things, then a bracelet strap is probably the best option for you. If, however, you like larger, statement pieces, then a thick strap is the best bet for you.

The next thing that you need to think about is the shape of the watch that you want – the shape you choose will affect the look of your watch. As well as the usual circular and square shaped watch faces, there are also some more unusual shapes to choose from.

Round and tear shaped watch faces are seen to be more feminine, while square watch faces are more masculine. However, it’s up to you which watch face shape you choose.

Choosing the perfect watch can be tricky if you don’t know what you are doing, that is. However, if you follow the tips in this guide, you should be just fine.
